Dear Friends

At the Committee of 100 for Tibet we have an interest group that would like to organize training for Tibetans in sustainable organic agriculture, and related arts and sciences such as ecology, botany, zoology, animal tracking, nature awareness and wilderness survival training. This effort, currently in its very infancy, is supported by the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. We are now collecting agreements of support for this endeavour, either in the form of admission grants to teaching institutions, traineeships and workshops or in financial form. As you may know, Tibetan refugees generally do not benefit from United Nations-sponsored programs and are thus at a disadvantage in acquiring knowledge for a more sustainable future for their people.

Through an interview yesterday on National Public Radio with a senior researcher at the Danish Institute of Agricultural Science, we have become aware of the recent change in agricultural policy of the Danish government to fully support sustainable organic agriculture. We would therefore be grateful to know whether any training opportunities exist in your country, governmental and/or non-governmental, that could be attended by Tibetans and what the admission requirements and procedures are. If so, we would also like to know whether funding can be provided and/or whether it needs to, in part or completely, be derived from other sources. Also, if you could only help us find the right person or institutional office to address with our inquiry, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you very much for your kind efforts.

With warm best wishes,
Tashi Delek,
Michael Bachmann

We are visitors on this planet. We are here for ninety or one hundred years at the very most. During that period, we must try to do something good, something useful, with our lives.

Try to be at peace with yourself, and help others share that peace. If you contribute to other people's happiness, you will find the true goal, the true meaning of life.
