Impact of Different Plant and Animal Products upon Aphids. P3; 90

Vaidya, K.

.

Nine different species of plants were selected for the study. These includes Adhatoda vasiks, Aretmesia vulgaris Brassica compestris, Melia azaderach, Mentha arvensis, Mentha sylvestris, Ocimum gratissium, Urtica dioica and Zanthoxyllum allatum. Studies was also carried with cattle urine. Aqueous and alcoholic extracts of the plants were prepared. Impact of the plant products was studied upon two species of the aphids Lipaphis erysimi and Mysus persicae. Persistence of the effect was also studied in field Aqueous extract of Adhatodo vasika showed best effect with percentage mortality 78.964 and 69.424 respectively for L. erysimi and M. persicae A. vulgaris and Ocimum gratissimum presented parallel effects.
Alcoholic extracts presented Artemesia vulgaris and M. arvensis to have best effect upon L. erysimi with percentage mortality 89.091 and 90.042 respectively at 50% concentration Zanthoxyllum allatum also presented good effect upon L. erysimi with mortality 85.473, 54.952 and 48.048 respectively at 50%, 25% and 10% concentration. Studies on persistence of effect showed A. vasica to have highest value i.e. 35 days.
